We want everyone to enjoy their experience of our race. We have, therefore, provided some information below to help guide you through the race proceedings. If, however, you have any queries or need any further information, then please email us at [email protected].
The race will start at 11:30am on Sunday 26th January 2020. Note that the start is approximately 10 minutes walk from race HQ.
Race numbers & chips (not the eating kind!)
Please go to Race HQ before the race to register and collect you race number and timing chip.
Note: This year (as last year) the competitor's race T shirts will be available upon finishing, just beyond the finish area. Please note that you will need to show your race number which will show the size you selected.
How to get to Race HQ
This year, the Race HQ will be at Newport Stadium which is located at Newport International Sports Village, Velodrome Way, Newport NP19 4RA. The Start of the race will be at Lliswerry Secondary School, Nash Road which is about a 10 minute walk from Race HQ.
Parking for the race is at Newport Stadium. Please car share if possible. There is no parking at the school and please do not park in the street nearby as this will cause congestion. Sufficient extra parking is available at the Tennis Centre and Velodrome within the sports village complex.
NOTE: WE HAVE ACCESS TO THE SCHOOL GROUNDS ONLY. ANY ATTEMPT TO ENTER ANY OF THE SCHOOL BUILDINGS WILL COMPROMISE THE FUTURE OF OUR RACE.
We suggest that you use the many toilet facilities on the Newport Stadium campus (Tennis Centre, Velodrome & Stadium) before walking to the start area where portable facilities are VERY LIMITED. Urination in the school grounds will result in disqualification.
The Newport Stadium Race HQ is accessed via the Southern Distributor Road that runs south of Newport joining Junction 28 of the M4 (Tredegar Park) to Junction 24 of the M4 (The Coldra/Celtic Manor). For those arriving from outside Newport we feel it is easiest to follow the route in from Junction 24 of the M4. The Newport Stadium is well signposted and quite large but you should note that the entrance is from behind the Motorplus Car Supermarket.
Changing facilities, etc.
There are excellent changing, shower & toilet facilities at both the Newport Stadium, Newport Tennis Centre and the Velodrome. These are not run by us and there is a small charge of around £1 for using them. There are car parks near each of these facilities but they are fairly small. We recommend that you do not leave valuables in the changing rooms (not even in a locker) and cannot be responsible for any losses. A baggage tent will be placed near to the start but we take no responsibility for any items left in the tent.
We will be awarding prizes for the following categories:
Men: 1st, 2nd & 3rd finishers, plus first in age categories: Senior, V40, V45, V50, V55, V60, V65 and V70

Prizes for each age category will be awarded to runners registered in that specific category. ie Vet 45 prize is open to all those between 45 & 49, Vet 50 to those between 50 and 54 etc. It therefore is possible that the 1st, 2nd & 3rd finishers and members of the winning teams may receive 2 prizes (1st finisher certainly will!)
